"Art Competition ASREA 2019"

 

The ASREA Association, in the context of its activities, is holding an art competition entitled: "Art Competition ASREA 2019".

 

The competition promotecultural exchange between countries of the Arab world and Europe over multiple dimensions (historical, artistic, nature, cultural) and to narrate through art and its languages landscapes, views, facades and other objects of art reflecting moments of daily and collective life.

 

The works will be evaluated by a Committee that will award three prizes, the decision of the committee is final and not subject to appeal:

 

BEST OVERALL to the winner from all categories - 300.00 Euros (three hundred Euros) in cash + personal show at the Art GAP gallery – Rome, Italy.

 

FIRST PRIZE to the winners of each category - Personal Show at the Art GAP Gallery – Rome, Italy.

 

SECOND PRIZE for the second and third winners in each category - Group Exhibition at the Art GAP Gallery – Rome, Italy.

 

Furthermore, the commission reserves the right to assign special prizes to works perceived worthy.

 

The works participating in the competition can be used by the ASREA Association to hold exhibitions, by photo collections, publications, as well as for any type of promotional and cultural use.

 

The competition will take place from 11th to 20th of October 2019 at the Sala Nagasawa of the Appia Antica Park – Rome, Italy.

REGULATIONS

 

Art. 1 - Announcement

Promoter of the competition is the ASREA Association in collaboration with the Art GAP Gallery.

 

Art. 2 - Acceptance of the regulations

Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the regulations.

 

Art.3 - Theme and Categories

The theme of the competition is of free choice, the competition is divided into five categories: Painting, Paper, Sculpture / installation, Photography and Live. The artworks presented allowed will be works that have not been awarded prizes in other competitions.

 

Painting:

- Artworks in two dimensions made in complete freedom of style, with one or more of the following techniques: oil, tempera, acrylic, vinyl, watercolor, collage and the likes; -works to be made on any surface; paper: canvas, wood, plastic, Masonite, metal, etc.

-The maximum dimensions allowed are 100 x 100 cm.

-The artworks must be equipped with attachments and adequate support to be mounted and exhibited.

 

Paper: - Artworks in two dimensions made in complete freedom of style, with one or more of the following techniques: oil, tempera, acrylic, vinyl, watercolor, Inks, Charcoal,

Collage and the likes;

- Artworks made exclusively on paper.

-The maximum dimensions allowed are 100 x 100 cm.

-The artworks must be equipped with attachments and adequate support to be mounted and exhibited.

 

Sculpting and Installation:

- Artworks that are based on three-dimensions in any inorganic material.

- The artworks can also make use of sounds, lights, videos and self-powered mechanical or electrical movements

- The maximum allowed size is 100 x 100 cm, for a maximum weight of 25 kg.

 

 

Photography:

- Photographs printed on any type of support such as canvas, paper, wood, plastic, Masonite, Plexiglas, metal, etc.

- The maximum allowed size is 100 x 100 cm

- The artworks must be equipped with hangers and / or adequate support to be exhibited.

- Videos are not allowed.

 

Live Display:

- It consists of an impromptu painting or sculpture and / or free theme installation that will take place on the first day of the event October 11th 2019.

- Duration: the artists will have 4 hours at their disposal to make the work.

- The artwork can be carried out in full artistic and technical freedom and on any support.

- It will take place in the areas designated by the organization.

- Toxic substances such as sprays and solvents are not allowed (any exception must be communicated in advance).

- The maximum allowed size is 100 x 100 cm

- The artists are to bring all the materials that will be necessary for the realization of the live display (supports, brushes, colors, etc.).

- Any technical requirement must be agreed in advance with the organization.

 

Art. 4 - Participants

- There are no special qualifications for signing up. The competition is open to all artists or groups of artists, professional or not, self-taught and students from any country of the European continent and Arab world without age limits.

- Each participant can access the free pre-selection phase.

 

Art. 5 - Methods of participation, registration and its phases

 

(A) Pre-selection:

- All artists wishing to participate can apply to the initial selection stage and the application at this stage is free.

Attaching a photocopy of the passport, a personal photograph, two photographs of the work submitted, and a brief description of the artwork, as well as the works data, is pivotal for the competition before 30 June 2019.

- Registration form must be accompanied by:

 

* Photocopy of ID (for Italians) / passport (for non-Italians).

* Personal image of the artist (JPEG or TIFF) 300 DPI.

* Two images of the artwork submitted to the competition (JPEG or TIFF) 300 DPI.

*A brief description of the artwork within the limit of 1500 characters (the space between two words count as a character), in addition to the work data that includes

(Title and materials used in its implementation and type of surface and year of production).

- Progress to the initial selection process is linked to the submission of the registration form and signed by the participant, and in the case of non-adults it will be necessary to declare and acknowledge the responsibility of the legal parents or guardians.

- For those participating in the Live Show section, must in addition supply photographs of three previous works and a description of their performance.

 

(B) Phase of Contact for those selected:

Organizers will communicate with artists whose works will be selected in the contest before 15 July 2019.

 

(C) Phase of Payment:

The registration fee will be paid and the copy of the bank transfer receipt will be sent by e-mail before 31 July 2019.

- The participant who will pass the initial selection stage will be required to pay the amount of fifty Euros, the registration fee, by the 31st of July 2019.

- Each artist (if he or she so wishes) can participate in more than one category of the competition with a maximum of two categories. In this case, he will pay the subscription fee of 50 Euros for each category for a total of one hundred Euros.

- The subscription fee must be paid by bank transfer "Association ASREA" IBAN: IT41S 02008 05319 000105504161 Banca Unicredit Roma Trastevere; The reason for payment is to participate in the 2019 ASREA Art Competition with the name and family name of the participant.

(D) - Delivery phase:

The art works will be delivered at the Art Gap Hall between 3.30 pm and 7 pm on 7, 8 and 9 October 2019.

 

 

 

E) The Exhibition:

The event will be held and the art works will be displayed at the Nagasawa Hall from 11 to 20 October 2019. The artists participating in the live and direct competition will perform their work to the public within four hours of 11 October 2019.

 

(F) - Declaration of the Awards: Awards will be announced on the evening of 20 October 2019 during the closing ceremony.

 

(J) - Receipt of Works:

Works shall be returned to the artists on the evening of 20 October 2019 after the awards and closing ceremony.

 

Art. 6  Delivery of artworks

- Artworks must arrive at the Art Gap Hall by mail or through a transport company at:

Art GAP Gallery, via San Francesco a Ripa 105 / A 00153 Rome It can also be delivered by hand after scheduling an appointment by calling 069360201 at the same address between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm on October 7, 8, 9, 2019. - The cost of insurance and transportation is the responsibility of the participating artist. - The artwork that will arrive without transferring their registration fee will not be accepted by the organizers.

 

Art. 7  Program

A)- The works are to be delivered at the Art Gap Hall between 3.30pm and 7pm on 7, 8 and 9 October 2019.

B)- The event and exhibition will be held at the Nagasawa Hall from 11 to 20 October 2019.

C)- The artists who participate in the Live Competition will perform their work to the public within four hours of 11 October 2019.

D)- A specialized committee will evaluate the participating artworks and award prizes, and the committee's decisions are final and not subject to appeal. E)- The awards will be announced on the evening of 20 October 2019 at the closing ceremony, at the Nagasawa Hall, Apia Antica Park, Rome.

 

Art. 8  Awards

- Works submitted for participation in the competition will be evaluated by a specialized committee to award three awards:

BEST IN SHOW to the winner of all categories - 300.00 Euros (three hundred Euros) in cash + one personal show at the Art GAP gallery – Rome, Italy.

FIRST PRIZE to the winners of each category - Personal Show at the Art GAP Gallery – Rome, Italy.

SECOND PRIZE for the second and third place in each category - Group Exhibition at the Art GAP Gallery – Rome, Italy. - In addition to these awards, the Evaluation Committee reserves the right to award special prizes to works that are deemed worthy.

- The Evaluation Committee reserves the right to withhold any award, or all of it, if it considers that the submitted works do not amount to the appropriate technical level.

 

- All artworks accepted for participation in the competition will be displayed at the Nagasawa Hall from 11 to 20 October 2019.

- All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

 

 

Art. 9  Terms of participation and copyright

- Each participant retains intellectual property rights in respect of his or her artwork, which is sent to participate in the competition but allows and accepts the use of those rights by the activities of the Association for the Support of European-Arab Relations (ASREA) for non-profit purposes.

- Each participant is solely responsible for the subject matter of his / her work, and thus recognizes the exclusion of ASREA from third party liability.

- In particular, it acknowledges that it is the sole author of the published work and that it is original, unpublished, not published, that it does not infringe the rights of third parties, and that if it envisages subjects requiring any approval or authorization, approval must be obtained.

- Each participant "accepts" unconditionally all the rules pertaining to the event.

 

Art. 10  Privacy

- Information and personal data received by the Competition Administration will be dealt with by Legislative Decree No. 196/03.

- The information and personal data will be used by the association for the proper implementation of the competition.

- Information and personal data collected in the context of this competition may be dealt with only for the institutional and promotional purposes of the association.

- The data collected may be viewed, modified, updated or revoked at any time.

 

Art. 11  Images, audio and video

- The participation in the contest is a prior authorization by the contestants for all types of radio and television recordings and photographs without the right to make any claims or economic returns.

 

Art. 12  Catalog

- The winners of the first place prize should send the following materials to info@asrea.it for the preparation of booklets for their individual exhibitions:

 

• A list of selected artworks for the personal exhibition (from 12 to 16 artworks), with sizes not exceeding 100 cm x 100 cm. The date of the exhibition will be agreed before September 2020 and how to send the works in coordination with Art Gap staff.

• Clear images of the artworks in the format of JPEG or TIFF 300 DPI.

• Descriptive text of each work (maximum 1500 characters), specifying the specifications of each artwork (title, materials, surface, year of production)

• Portrait (artist's image) in the format of JPEG or TIFF 300 DPI.

• Short biography of the artist (maximum 2500 characters)

 

- Second and third place prize winners should submit the following materials for the info@asrea.itprinted catalog:

• Two images of the winning artwork (in general and in detail) in the format of 300 GB or JPEG.

• Portrait (artist's image) in the format of JPEG or TIFF 300 DPI.

• Descriptive text of the artwork (maximum 1500 characters) complete with work specifications, such as title, technical, year of production, etc.

• Short biography of the artist (maximum 2500 characters)

 

Art. 13  Changes or modifications

 

The Association for the Support of European-Arab Relations (ASREA) reserves the right to change or amend the provisions of these procedures. The original version has been written in Italian and the English and Arabic versions are available for the facilitation for non-Italian speakers.
